Once Upon a Time...

  ...there was a lady who... Oh, who am I trying to fool? I can’t write my own fairytale, can I? I do have a Prince Charming, and two beautiful little Princesses. Hmmmmm, I have been called a Drama Queen a few times in my life. Haha. Maybe this life IS a fairytale after all!
 

Hi, I’m Kate! I am so excited that I don’t know where to start!! I guess a little “who I am” summed up in a paragraph? Ok, here we go. I am a 29 year old university graduate with experience in real estate, entrepreneurship and a couple career changes in between. My family moved to Prince Edward Island from Nova Scotia about six months ago when my husband accepted a job offer here. Since then, I have been sending out resumes weekly in hopes of finding employment. Being a stay-at-home mom is my life right now and I love it but have been trying to find a way to make money doing it! The frustration of not finding suitable employment here has fueled my decision to start something new and God knows it’s taken a while to get here but I am ready and very excited about what the future holds for me.  

This is the first time I have ever written a blog and up until about six months ago, I didn’t even really know exactly what one was! Eeekkk...I know that’s a little absurd but don’t judge me yet! Pinterest introduced me to the blog world. Are you a Pinterest addict like me? I’m in recovery at the moment, but isn’t it crazy the things you can do and see there? If you have any self control at all, I am sure you handle Pinterest like a pro. As for me, someone who lacks control in the midst of so many great things has troubles with this site. But after a while I began thinking... I have so many fun ideas, and talents and thoughts just like the ones I am seeing online. Maybe I should share the things that I love! The urge to do this has taken over and here I am. Welcome to Mine!

So, you may be wondering why I have chosen to name this blog MINE. My intention is not to be possessive; I am actually really hoping to make this about you as well! The word MINE is important to me for a few reasons. Allow me to explain. 

Isn’t it so amazing how the universe gives us messages (whether we hear them at the time or not) and sometimes the universe pretty much has to hit us over the head with a frying pan for us to pay attention!!?  I recently read a book called “Something More- Excavating Your Authentic Self”.  You should definitely read it. I laughed and cried and it made me stop and take a look at my life, which face it, is pretty hard to do sometimes. However, this book has lead me here to Mine. Check this out...Here are the definitions for MINE:

Pronoun: Used to refer to a thing or things belonging to or associated with the speaker.  (THIS BLOG)

Noun: An excavation in the earth for extracting coal or other minerals.  (PHYSICALLY MINING)
 

Ok, so replace the word earth with soul, coal with spirit, and minerals with strength.  An excavation in the soul for extracting spirit or other strength. This book forced me to do lots of digging, excavating and mining to find my Soul, Spirit, and Strength. They were lost for a long time. Now I know what I need to do. I need to do things that make ME happy.

I suppose I should tell you how my new found happiness impacts you! One of my biggest passions is creating fun and funky jewelry designs and accessories for women of all ages. I began creating about five years ago when I was in the mood for a new hobby and wanted to make gifts for people. I quickly fell in love and find myself spending hours browsing all things accessory. I now have an Etsy store and you can get there by clicking on “Shop” just under the title at the top of the page. I hope you all enjoy all the little treasures that bring me so much joy to create.

My grand plan and intention is to create a place where I can go to talk about all things woman and style. Whether it’s finding a new pair of earrings to spice up a New Years Eve outfit, or chit-chatting about new ideas that make our lives easier and happier! I am not even close to being an expert in this field, but that is why this is going to be awesome. I want to share and learn from you as well!
